With more than 100 rides and attractions, the home of Iowa's best thrills is adding even more family fun with nine new rides. From hops to drops, and swings to sways, Adventureland has something new around every corner, and more ways for kids and parents to giggle, scream, and soar together.

Exercising five times a week is good for my muscles and bones, helps me fall asleep easier, helps me concentrate, and boosts my immune system. However, going to the gym to lift weights and running do not provide thrills. To get that level of excitement, I have tried different sports and regimens.

Pitching ideas for projects is part of many jobs, including sales and various writing jobs. One of my best friends and I have been putting together a copywriting side business that will involve a lot of pitching to potential clients. Sending off the pitch and following up provides excitement. Landing a project provides thrills.

New experiences release dopamine in reward areas of the brain. High-sensation seekers, such as thrill and adventure seekers, crave higher-risk activities to feel the rush of dopamine. I fall into the boredom susceptibility subtype, which is a tendency to be easily bored by routine work or repetitive situations.

Teddy Blanks: My favorite thing to happen in music this year was Sparks, a longtime favorite, getting two movies made by directors I love. I saw online that some hardcore Sparks fans were sort of annoyed by this development in that classic “my favorite band is mainstream now” way. But I was thrilled they had a moment — they deserve it. And anyway, from conversations with friends, I got the impression that people were only vaguely aware of the movies and still confused about what exactly Sparks was and why two guys in their 70s were suddenly all over the place.

Alvin Lucier was a giant who I was fortunate to work with, both as a player, whilst also having the honour to release many of his recent works on Black Truffle. Alvin’s music was and is absolutely huge for me, so getting to know the man and play his pieces with his guidance was a big thrill for me. I feel so lucky to have spent so much time with him, listening, recording, rehearsing, touring, hanging out, laughing, eating lobster (he loved lobster), I learned so much from him.

Entertainment will include live music from Belfast blues & rock band Captain Obvious, a costume contest, and some spooky surprises that are sure to thrill attendees, according to Belfast Maskers, in a news release.

The students arrived and stood on a line early in the morning and waited with great anticipation. Before the matinee selected students presented their original works on the Richard Rogers Stage surrounded by the Hamilton sets. Each performer was met with cheers and support by fellow students in the audience. I was impressed by each performer, as they took the stages and showed off their hard work and preparation. The student presentation was followed by a Q & A with some of the Broadway cast members of Hamilton. There was an hour and a half lunch break before the students returned to the theater. As the each cast member came on the stage to begin the show the audience screamed and cheered. At the end of the show every student jumped up and gave the cast a standing ovation with loud cheers. Speaking to some of the students after the show they were happy to share with me their first experience seeing a Broadway show. Everyone of them said they were thrilled and and hope to see more shows.

Mid-career is that moment most playwrights find themselves at the edge of an abyss. The moment can last years, during which the excitable support our field bestows on emerging and early-career writers dries up and playwrights who have finally developed the chops to write their mature works often leave the theater for the rewards and empowerment of TV or the stability of teaching. Playwrights have been calling for help through this rough passage for some time. They have been asking for reasons and means to stay in the theater at all. It was, therefore, a thrill, this past week, to see the Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust throw a lifeline to two of my most beloved writers in the form of $50,000 Steinberg Playwright Awards, also known as Mimis.

And she's going to try and prove that he's innocent. Because he is innocent, right?

Herb Lubalin (1918-1981) was an alumnus of Cooper Union who became a prolific type and graphic designer, most known for his magazine work. In collaboration with publisher Ralph Ginzberg, they produced three magazines, Eros, Avant Garde, and Fact, in the 1960s and 70s. He also co-founded the International Typeface Corporation in 1970, which also published U&lc Magazine. (U&lc is shorthand for upper and lowercase.) Previous to this, I had only seen this magazine digitally scanned on the internet, so imagine my thrill of getting to thumb through a copy from 1981.
